A British mother-of-three was stabbed to death at her home in Spain despite a restraining order against her estranged husband, who has been arrested after handing himself in at a prison. Victoria Hart, 33, a hairdresser, was found in a pool of blood with a kitchen knife beside her body at her family home in the La Paca area of Alhaurin el Grande in Malaga.
Her ex-partner, Juan Antonio Rueda, turned himself in at a nearby prison and told officers: 'Arrest me, I've done something very bad.' A source close to the family told the Daily Mail that the couple had been separated and that Rueda had a restraining order banning him from approaching the home where his wife and three children lived.
It is believed that the children, an 11-year-old boy and seven-year-old twin girls, witnessed the attack and raised the alarm by pressing a panic button in the house. The eldest child reportedly ran into the garden and asked for help, and also phoned his grandmother. Neighbours alerted police after hearing screams.
Victoria's mother, Susan Hart, lives in the UK, while her father, Sidney, died in 2019. The family had been living in Spain for many years. Alhaurin el Grande Town Council has announced a day of mourning and a minute's silence in Victoria's memory. Tributes on social media have called for action against domestic violence.
