Ibiza is set to witness a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse this summer, marking the first such event on the popular Spanish island in 121 years. The party hotspot is expected to welcome hordes of visitors, many drawn by the promise of the island's 'greatest ever sunset'.
Rare Celestial Event
On August 12 this year, the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Europe since 1999 will take place, with Ibiza lying directly in the path of totality. The next occurrence of this rare celestial event is not due for another 154 years. Totality is set for 8:32 PM, coinciding with the island's famous sunset, making it an even more spectacular sight.

For those keen to witness the event, package holiday company On the Beach has launched a trip guaranteeing views of the acclaimed Ibiza sunset. Holiday packages start from £500 per person, including flights, three nights' accommodation, and breakfast. Each hotel has been handpicked by experts for its rooftop bars, ensuring an unobstructed view of the incredible eclipse.

Several hotels are launching events to mark the momentous occasion. Six Senses Ibiza is celebrating the rare astronomical event with wellness-related activities such as guided meditations and collective intention-setting. The hotel says: 'Restore balance with our wellness activities, including sunrise movement sessions, sound healing, and evening breathwork under the open sky. Workshops and talks explore astrology, mythology, and creative awareness through an accessible and experiential approach.' From August 11 to 14, 2026, the luxury hotel will host eclipse-focused events.
Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is offering a 'Beyond the Sun' programme, described as a 'once-in-a-lifetime experience designed around two rare cosmic spectacles – the Total Solar Eclipse and the peak of the Perseid Meteor Showers – witnessed from one of the Mediterranean's most coveted barefoot luxury retreats.' This includes luxury private villa accommodation, food, meditation portals, and an eclipse sunset hike on August 12, reserved exclusively for guests to witness the total solar eclipse at its most dramatic moment.
Ibiza Rocks hotel will host a pool party to mark the occasion. Its website says: 'Daytime energy, music by the pool and the perfect balance to big nights during eclipse week.' And 7Pines Resort Ibiza offers a clifftop west coast location with uninterrupted sunset panoramas, making it ideal for watching the eclipse.
