The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued a fresh flood alert for Ayrshire and Arran, warning that flooding “is possible” in parts of the region. The alert, released at lunchtime today, is one of 13 new flood warnings flashed across Scotland.
The warning follows two storms, Austen and Boelo, which battered the region over the weekend and caused widespread disruption. SEPA is advising members of the public to “be prepared.”
Coastal flooding expected Monday and Tuesday
SEPA said: “A Flood Alert Update has been issued for Ayrshire and Arran. Hide spring tides together with a storm surge, spray and wave overtopping associated with a further storm system are likely to cause coastal flooding impacts around the times of high water on Monday evening and through Tuesday.”
The potential impacts could include flooding of coastal roads, properties and travel disruption. SEPA added: “Some coastal areas may still be affected from Storm Boelo with damage and road closures.”
Public advised to stay vigilant
“Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property,” the agency said.
