Samsung has unveiled a major upgrade to its portable projector line, promising a simpler and more intelligent way to enjoy television and streaming content anywhere in the home.
The new device, called the Freestyle+, will be officially revealed at the CES technology show in Las Vegas this week. It builds on the original Freestyle model, which launched in 2022, with significant improvements aimed at eliminating the typical hassles of projector setup.
AI-Powered Setup and Picture Perfection
The cornerstone of the Freestyle+ is Samsung's AI OptiScreen technology. This system allows the projector to automatically analyse its surroundings and adjust the picture to suit the surface it's projected onto.
This means users can simply switch it on, point it at almost any wall, and start watching without manually tweaking settings. The AI suite includes several key features designed for real-world use.
- 3D Auto Keystone: Corrects image distortion on uneven or angled surfaces like corners or curtains.
- Real-time Focus: Maintains a sharp picture even when the projector is moved or rotated.
- Screen Fit: Automatically sizes the image to match a compatible projector screen.
- Wall Calibration: Analyses the colour and texture of the wall to reduce visual distractions and improve clarity.
Portable Entertainment Hub
Like its predecessor, the Freestyle+ is designed for true portability, making it easy to carry from room to room. It comes with a built-in speaker and supports Wi-Fi connectivity for seamless access to popular streaming apps.
This includes services like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video, allowing users to dive straight into their favourite shows or movies.
Samsung's Vision for Adaptive Viewing
Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, explained the thinking behind the new device. "The Freestyle+ reflects Samsung's vision to create displays that adapt naturally to how people live and move between spaces," he said.
"By combining true portability with intelligent AI that optimises both the viewing environment and the content itself, The Freestyle+ makes it easier to enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience wherever you are."
Samsung has not yet confirmed the official pricing for the Freestyle+. However, the company has announced that the device is expected to launch in stores in early 2026, offering a new, flexible option for UK consumers looking to declutter their living spaces or create impromptu cinema nights.
