Tess Daly posed for a photo with her eldest daughter Phoebe just hours before announcing her separation from husband Vernon Kay.
The Strictly Come Dancing host, 57, shared an Instagram picture of the pair enjoying time together in the sunshine, captioning it: "Got my Phoebe back for a few days and making the most of every moment." The post also included a photo of an ice cream and a picture of Tess relaxing in a park.
Phoebe, 21, recently moved to New York, and her return home gave the mother and daughter a chance to catch up. Their outing came shortly before Tess and Vernon, 52, released a joint statement on social media confirming they had split after 22 years of marriage.
"After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably," the statement read. "We remain great friends and more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents." The couple said there were no other parties involved and asked for privacy.
Tess and Vernon began dating in 2001 after meeting at a Christmas party, became engaged on Christmas Day 2002 and married in 2003. They share two daughters, Phoebe and Amber, born in 2009. Earlier this year, Phoebe revealed she had moved to New York, writing on social media: "NYC has my hearttt! Lucky to call it home for a while." Vernon later told The Times that although they talk about encouraging their children to leave the nest, "we don't really want them to."
