Vinted Users Warned Over Clever New Scam Targeting Sellers

Vinted users are being warned about a sophisticated new scam that targets sellers on the platform. The scam, highlighted by TikTok user Chloe Chandler, involves buyers stealing personal information after completing a purchase.

According to Chandler, the scam begins when a buyer purchases an item and, after receiving it, clicks the 'everything is okay' button. This action makes it difficult for the seller to process refunds or returns through Vinted. Later, the buyer claims there is a problem with the item and asks for the seller's name, address, phone number, and email to supposedly return it.

Chandler warns that the buyer has no intention of returning the item and is instead after personal data. She advises sellers never to share personal information on Vinted, no matter how genuine the buyer seems. The scam accounts often have good reviews left by other scammers, making them appear trustworthy.

Users have reported encountering this scam, with one commenting, 'Yep this happened to me only a couple weeks ago,' and another saying, 'Omg this literally happened to me yesterday.' Chandler urges sellers to be cautious, especially if the buyer has already clicked 'everything is okay,' as AI-generated photos may be used as fake evidence of damage.

To report a scam, users can contact Vinted via the 'contact us' button or email phishing@vinted.com with screenshots, the scammer's username, email, or phone number. Victims should freeze bank accounts and cards, update passwords, and report compromised accounts to Vinted.
