Dundee United's Will Ferry is on Celtic's transfer radar. The in-demand star is on a list of potential left-back options Martin O'Neill is considering as the Hoops look for another left-sided player to provide cover for Kieran Tierney.
Interest and Contract Situation
United chiefs are aware of the interest but there has been nothing formal at this point. Ferry has been a standout for United over the past two seasons, with his stats among the best in his position in the Scottish Premiership. The new Republic of Ireland international is entering the final year of his contract, and there is growing interest in the 25-year-old.
Previous Transfer Attempts
Ferry turned down a £1.7 million move to a Czech club earlier this month. A fee was agreed with United, but the former Southampton player decided against the move. However, the Czech outfit is still actively trying to convince Ferry to change his mind. He also has strong interest from the English Championship, with Blackburn Rovers being long-term admirers.
Celtic's Other Targets
United have already moved to sign Phillipe Ndinga on loan from Philadelphia Union to provide cover. Celtic have also asked about AEK left-back James Penrice, but he has options in England as well. The champions' immediate priority is bringing in another striker before turning to the left-back position. They are also trying to finalise deals with Real Oviedo for Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan and Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur.
