Jeremy Clarkson has hinted at a new television programme to compete with Celebrity Traitors as he announces filming has concluded on the sixth series of Clarkson's Farm. The television presenter, 66, launched the Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm in 2021, documenting the day-to-day operations of managing his farm Diddly Squat.
Success and Future Plans
Since then, it has secured two successive National Television Awards (NTAs) and emerged as one of the streaming platform's most-watched programmes. The former Top Gear presenter has revealed that the sixth series has completed production and is eager to explore his next venture.
He discussed how the television industry is rapidly evolving at the RTS Convention in London. He said: "We're currently thinking about what we're going to do after Clarkson's Farm, and it's going to have to be something bigger – to stand out, to protect us from the onslaught from underneath."
Ambitious New Show
He told The Sun: "It has to be unbelievably ambitious, like, where people go, 'What the f**k are you doing? That's an incredible show!'" He added that The Traitors is "a very good example", with the second celebrity edition scheduled to broadcast on October 1. "They get proper celebrities on that, and it's a great show."
He discussed with his daughter, Emily, and Loose Women's Jane Moore how the digital landscape is transforming the nature of television consumption. He said: "Television has to get bigger, lose scheduling and get better."
Industry Proposal
The presenter said the "only" way television can "survive" would be to merge "the whole lot". He named the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, and Channel 5, and proposed a unified platform called "Britfix". He added: "People are draining away from the industry, and it's a huge pool of talent, and I think if we had one great big thing – Britflix, let's call it – we could all club together and make good programmes. But bigger, better and fewer programmes."
The presenter has previously said although he loves Celebrity Traitors, he wouldn't fancy his chances of donning a black cloak. He said in an interview last year when asked if he would take part: "I wouldn't in a million years. I've got 10 jobs already. Why would I want 11?" He went on to discuss his former co-stars, saying: "I couldn't see James May going on it. I could see Richard Hammond going on it, though."
Upcoming Series
The fifth season of Clarkson's Farm took a more intimate turn, chronicling his recuperation following a heart procedure and cancer diagnosis. The sixth series is anticipated to arrive on Amazon Prime next summer.
