Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed that the sixth series of Clarkson's Farm has finished filming and is teasing a new TV show to rival Celebrity Traitors. The 66-year-old presenter, who started the Amazon Prime series in 2021, said his next venture after the farming show has to be 'bigger' to stand out in a rapidly changing television landscape.
Clarkson's Farm, which documents the behind-the-scenes running of his Diddly Squat farm, has received two consecutive National Television Awards (NTAs) and become one of the most-watched series on the streaming platform.
Ambitious plans for the next project
Speaking at the RTS Convention in London, the former Top Gear host said: "We’re currently thinking about what we’re going to do after Clarkson’s Farm, and it’s going to have to be something bigger – to stand out, to protect us from the onslaught from underneath."
He told The Sun: "It has to be unbelievably ambitious, like, where people go, 'What the f**k are you doing? That’s an incredible show!'"
He cited The Traitors as "a very good example", with the second celebrity version set to air on October 1. "They get proper celebrities on that, and it’s a great show."
Proposal for a unified streaming platform
Clarkson spoke with his daughter Emily and Loose Women's Jane Moore about how the digital world is changing television consumption. He said: "Television has to get bigger, lose scheduling and get better."
The presenter said the "only" way television can "survive" would be to merge "the whole lot". He named the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, and Channel 5, and proposed a unified platform called "Britfix".
He added: "People are draining away from the industry, and it’s a huge pool of talent, and I think if we had one great big thing – Britflix, let’s call it – we could all club together and make good programmes. But bigger, better and fewer programmes."
No plans to appear on Celebrity Traitors
Clarkson has previously said he wouldn't take part in Celebrity Traitors. In an interview last year, when asked if he would appear, he said: "I wouldn’t in a million years. I’ve got 10 jobs already. Why would I want 11?"
He also discussed his former co-stars, saying: "I couldn’t see James May going on it. I could see Richard Hammond going on it, though."
The fifth season of Clarkson's Farm was a more personal series, following his recovery from a heart procedure and cancer diagnosis. The sixth series is expected to land on Amazon Prime next summer.
