Madame Tussauds is joining in the great British summer of sport by getting fans closer to their heroes. After a brilliant World Cup and ongoing action in cricket, Grand Prix and darts, sports fans can get up close and personal with superstars at the waxwork museum in central London.
New Figures and Sporting Icons
Visitors can snap a selfie with brand new figures of England captain Harry Kane and Formula One World Champion Lando Norris, as well as sporting icons such as World Cup legend Kylian Mbappe, WSL superstar Mary Earps and Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton.
A spokeswoman said: “As Britain gears up for a summer full of world-class sporting action, Merlin’s attractions are offering fans new ways to celebrate their sporting passions together.”
Stars React to Their Waxworks
Formula 1 World Champ Lando Norris said it is “pretty surreal” having a waxwork figure of himself appear at Baker Street museum. When his figure was unveiled earlier this year, the 26-year-old McLaren driver said it was “such a big honour” to work on his first waxwork, adding “seeing all the detail they’ve put into the figure is really impressive”.
England striker Harry Kane, who netted six goals at the World Cup, is also delighted with his new likeness. He said on the unveiling it was “like looking in the mirror,” praising the team for recreating even the smallest personal touches.
“It was a real honour to get the call from Madame Tussauds. It’s one of those things that you never expect to happen,” Kane said. “London is a special place for me, and I’ve lived here pretty much my whole life, so it’s the perfect city to have my first figure - it feels like a true full-circle moment.”
“Seeing the final result was a special moment; the eyes are so realistic, and they even remembered the tape on my wedding finger that I kiss to celebrate when I score a goal.”
Kane joins the popular attraction’s lineup of footballing heroes: Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappé. Mary Earps was Madame Tussauds London’s first ever professional female footballer figure. Madame Tussauds tickets start at £23.63pp when booked online.
