Lamine Yamal's Father Misses World Cup Final Due to Epilepsy

Lamine Yamal's father, Mounir Nasraoui, will not attend the World Cup final in person, as he has been unable to attend any match during the tournament due to his health. Nasraoui, who suffers from epilepsy, explained that the stress and emotion of live matches could trigger seizures, forcing him to watch from home.

Father's Health Concerns

Nasraoui stated: "I'm an epileptic. I have to take a lot of medication every day, and I can have an epilepsy seizure. I could be here, right now, under the effects of stress or emotion, and have a seizure without realising it. So you always have to think things through carefully." He added that traveling could cause problems for himself, his son, and those around them, so it is better to stay home.

Yamal's Rise to Stardom

Yamal, now 19, became the youngest player to debut for Barcelona since 1922 when he joined the first team at age 15. He scored one goal in this World Cup and is expected to start against Argentina after recovering from a thigh issue. His humble beginnings include sharing a small apartment with his family, and he now cherishes seeing his mother happy and his younger brother Keyne enjoying a better childhood.

Family Background

Yamal's paternal grandmother, Fatima, left Morocco on a bus she was not legally allowed to board, working shifts to support her son. His parents split when he was three, but his football career took off after joining Barcelona's youth ranks at seven. In a recent incident, Nasraoui was stabbed in a parking lot about a month after Yamal won Euro 2024, with four people arrested.

As Spain faces Argentina for the World Cup title, Yamal aims to add a second international trophy to his cabinet.
