Manchester United have told Antony to find a new club in the January transfer window, according to reports. The Brazilian winger, who joined from Ajax for £85million in 2022, has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Ruben Amorim.
Antony is currently on loan at Real Betis, where he has rediscovered his form with nine goals and five assists in 25 games. His performances have helped Betis reach the Europa Conference League final against Chelsea.
Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini said: 'He has not surprised me because I knew him before from England. When you buy a player for that amount of money it is not always because you made a mistake. Maybe there are some reasons why Antony could not play the way he knows at Manchester United.'
Antony struggled at United, managing just one goal and one assist in the 2023/24 season. He revealed he went 'days without eating, staying locked in my room' during his darkest moments at Old Trafford.
Betis legend Joaquin joked: 'If I have to provide the car to kidnap him, I will. However it happens, he has to stay.' However, Betis may struggle to afford a permanent deal, with Atletico Madrid among other suitors.
