England's spectacular World Cup journey continues this evening as they face Argentina in the semi-final for a place in the final against Spain on Sunday. The match kicks off at 8pm UK time, a more reasonable time than previous fixtures in the tournament.
TV and radio coverage
Live free-to-air television coverage will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD. Official broadcast coverage begins at 7pm, providing a full hour of detailed pre-match build-up. According to The Guardian, the national broadcaster will present England's World Cup semi-final against Argentina live from Atlanta, Georgia.
Previously, the BBC's team of presenters and pundits has been based in Salford, with the exception of in-stadium updates from Alan Shearer and Stephen Warnock. Pundits including Wayne Rooney and Micah Richards will be on the ground for the tournament's final stages. Mark Chapman is set to lead the BBC's coverage for England against Argentina from inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Rooney, Richards and Joe Hart will provide punditry.
For fans unable to watch on television, full radio commentary will be broadcast nationwide across BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT. Both stations will be running dedicated pre-match build-up programming throughout the day.
Weather and schedule
As it stands, there is no delay for the England semi-final despite severe weather warnings in place. The teams will stick to the schedule, but heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast to hit the stadium around kick-off time.
Final broadcast plans
Ahead of Sunday's final, ITV has revealed its broadcasting plans. The station will broadcast the World Cup half-time show at the New York New Jersey Stadium in full, as well as match analysis. The interval performance is the first of its kind for the international football tournament and will feature Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy and Justin Bieber. The half-time line-up is expected to break Fifa's rules by extending the interval from a typical 15 minutes to up to 25 minutes.
The BBC is set to announce plans for Sunday's broadcast in the coming days. Its programme description said: "Live coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final from the New Jersey Stadium, New York. After five weeks and 103 matches, just two teams remain in contention to win football’s biggest prize."
