British featherweight Lerone Murphy watched his title ambitions slip away on home soil at UFC London, suffering the first defeat of his professional career to the division's formidable boogeyman, Movsar Evloev. The highly anticipated wrestle-fest many had predicted failed to materialise, but the Russian contender spoiled the party nonetheless in front of a star-studded crowd that included celebrities like Noel Gallagher, Louis Theroux, and Tinie Tempah at the O2 Arena.
A Miracle Fighter's Dream Deferred
Murphy, known as 'The Miracle' for surviving being shot three times in the face at age twenty-one, had built an impressive undefeated record of eighteen professional fights, with only a draw on his UFC debut marring his perfect slate.
