Kilbane urges Everton to sign Parrott after 37-goal season

Everton have been backed to make a move for Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott, with former Blues winger Kevin Kilbane insisting the prolific marksman is “not a flash in the pan.” Parrott, 24, scored 37 goals for club and country last season, including 31 in 48 games for AZ Alkmaar and six on international duty.

Parrott's Journey to Prolific Form

Parrott began his career at Tottenham Hotspur but was loaned out to Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons, and Preston North End before moving to the Netherlands. He initially joined Excelsior on loan before making a permanent switch to AZ Alkmaar in 2024. Since moving to the Dutch Eredivisie, he has scored 68 goals in 127 matches.

Kevin Kilbane, who made 121 appearances for Everton after being signed by David Moyes in 2003, believes his former boss should consider signing the striker. Asked by Betway Insider whether he would advise Moyes to sign Parrott, Kilbane said: “I doubt he’s going to take my advice these days! But look, as I’ve said to you before, this is not a flash in the pan.”

Kilbane's Endorsement

Kilbane highlighted Parrott's consistency over the past two seasons, noting his goals in European competition and the Dutch league. “It wasn’t just two games where he scored five goals and the first-ever Irish hat-trick away from home. If you look at him consistently over the last couple of years at Alkmaar, he’s scored big goals in European competition, and he’s scored consistently in the Dutch league.”

He added: “He’s had to go away, grow up, and find himself in many respects. If Everton or any Premier League club were to sign Troy Parrott, you’re getting quality. You’re getting a player who’s matured. He looks stronger physically. Irish fans know he’s not a flash in the pan, the talent is real. If you’re asking me his ceiling, it could be anything he wants.”

Parrott's Potential Fit at Everton

Kilbane also noted that Parrott is believed to be an Everton supporter. “And look, I believe he’s an Evertonian. I’ve heard he’s a Toffee. So, if he is a Toffee, we’ll take him all day long. Another Irishman in the blue jersey – we’d be first in the queue for that.”
