A man is fighting for his life after being assaulted by a group of six men outside a takeaway in Liverpool. Police were called to Park Road in Dingle just before 10pm on Saturday, August 8, following reports of an assault.
Victim critical in hospital
The victim, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where Merseyside Police say he remains in a critical condition. An electric bike believed to have been used in the assault has been seized by police.
Two teenagers arrested
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Wavertree on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. A 14-year-old boy from Dingle was also arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.
Officers have remained at the scene throughout the day to carry out CCTV and forensic work.
Appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Gemma Ellerton said: "Although we have arrested two males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account."
"We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred."
"With this I urge people in the area who saw the incident, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, to please come forward and check any devices which may hold images or footage leading up to the assault."
"Any information no matter how small, may help the investigation."
