More than 10,000 England fans are descending on the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami for the World Cup quarter-final against Norway, with supporters expressing cautious optimism despite concerns over Norway striker Erling Haaland.
Fans Share Predictions Outside Stadium
Brothers Doug and Matt Rose, from London, shared their predictions with the Press Association. Doug, 36, forecast a 4-0 win for England, saying: "We've got the players, it's our time. Football's coming home." He added that Norway would be England's toughest test yet, but predicted the team would "come together" and "scare whoever they're going to play next." Matt, 31, was more cautious, predicting a 2-2 draw followed by an England penalty shootout victory.
Haaland a Key Concern
Matt described Haaland as "unbelievable" in the tournament so far, noting: "Their whole team – they look great. So, I think it's going to be a tough test." Max Gill, 27, from London, said he was "relatively confident, but a bit wary of Haaland on the counter," predicting a 1-0 win with England sitting back after scoring.
Optimism Despite Heat and Humidity
The Rose brothers acknowledged the challenge of Miami's hot and humid weather but remained confident England would reach the semi-finals. Terry Rose, 68, from Huddersfield, wearing a waistcoat covered in England flags, praised manager Thomas Tuchel for doing "really well so far." Ryan Dougan, 27, from Birmingham, predicted a 2-1 England victory, saying: "They're in form, they got a great result against Brazil, Haaland's obviously bagging a lot of goals at the moment. But I think the Mexico game is huge for us, and I think the only way is up now."
St George's Flags at Downing Street
Number 10 Downing Street has been decorated with St George's flags ahead of the match. Victory over Norway would send England into a semi-final against either Argentina or Switzerland in Atlanta on Wednesday.
