A woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a trailer in Dumfries on Saturday morning, July 11, 2026. Police cordoned off part of Criffel Road following the incident, which occurred around 10.55am.
Emergency Response
A bystander reported seeing an air ambulance, two fire engines, ambulances, and multiple police vehicles at the scene. A tractor was also later pictured being recovered from the area.
Police Scotland confirmed the incident in a statement: “Around 10.55am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, we received a report that a pedestrian was struck by a trailer on Criffel Road, Dumfries. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Road Closure and Local Reaction
The road remained closed until approximately 4.45pm. A local man described hearing children “screaming” and said, “I’ve never seen that many service responders in Dumfries in all my years. Hope anyone involved will be OK. Thoughts and prayers to all involved.”
The woman's condition has not been disclosed. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
