Dwight Yorke has revealed he advised Manchester United to sign two current superstars and hire Unai Emery before the club appointed Ruben Amorim as manager. The former United striker told BoyleSports that he urged the club to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and Michael Olise from Palace before they moved to Arsenal and Bayern Munich respectively. Yorke also recommended Emery, now at Aston Villa, as the best manager in the country, but United instead hired Amorim, whose 14-month tenure ended in a sacking.
Yorke's Transfer and Managerial Advice Ignored
Yorke said: 'I've told Manchester United in the past to go and sign players. I told them to sign Michael Olise before he went to Bayern Munich. I told them to sign Eberechi Eze. This was years before anyone said anything about him moving to Arsenal. I said go and spend £100m to sign these two players for United. They looked at me and said why is he saying that? Why would we spend that money on them? They raised their eyebrows against me. Now look at them.'
Eze completed a £68m move to Arsenal and helped them win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final last season. Olise has become one of the world's best attacking players at Bayern Munich. Yorke also said: 'I told them to go and get Unai Emery, the best manager in the country, before they went and appointed Ruben Amorim as manager.'
Latest Transfer Plea: Ayyoub Bouaddi
Yorke has now urged United to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, 18, who impressed at the World Cup for Morocco. He said: 'I'm telling them, go and get Bouaddi now. That's the young midfielder you need to build this team around. He is the future. From what I see of him playing for Morocco, I think there is something special about him, so if you want to talk about midfield players you can go and spend £50m on Andrey Santos or whatever, but I urge United to go for Bouaddi because the guy looks like he has everything.'
Bouaddi has attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester City. United have already signed Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa this summer, but manager Michael Carrick wants a third midfielder after Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's serious injury.
