The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 nations for the first time, divided into 12 groups. Co-hosts Mexico, the USA and Canada are top seeds in Groups A, B and D respectively.
Scotland have been placed in Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti. England are in Group L with Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
The top two teams from each group will advance to a new round of 32, along with the eight best third-placed sides. A total of 104 matches will be played, 40 more than at the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Mexico and Canada will each host 13 games, while the United States will stage 78 matches. From the quarter-finals onwards, all remaining fixtures will be in the US, with the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
