West Ham United forward Said Benrahma has been ordered to pay over £700 in fines and costs after his American XL Bully dog launched an unprovoked attack on a woman in a London street.
The 28-year-old Algerian international appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court where he admitted being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control in a public place.
Shocking Street Attack
The incident occurred on June 25th in the Longlands Road area of Sidcup, when Benrahma's powerful XL Bully escaped from his home and attacked 38-year-old Amy Sweeney as she walked along the street.
Ms Sweeney suffered significant injuries to her hand and leg during the terrifying ordeal, requiring medical attention for the wounds inflicted by the muscular dog breed.
Court Consequences
Magistrates handed Benrahma a £461 fine and ordered him to pay £300 in compensation to the victim, plus £114 in costs and victim surcharge. The total financial penalty amounted to £715.
The court heard that the footballer, who recently transferred to French club Lyon, was not present at his home when the dog escaped and subsequently attacked the passerby.
