Marco Silva Fumes at 'Unbelievable' VAR Decisions in Fulham's Chelsea Defeat

Fulham manager Marco Silva has launched a scathing attack on the officiating after his side's 2-0 loss to Chelsea, describing the VAR decisions as 'unbelievable'. The Cottagers had a goal from Josh King disallowed in the first half following a VAR review, with referee Rob Jones ruling that Rodrigo Muniz had fouled Trevoh Chalobah in the buildup.

Silva expressed his frustration at the decision, stating that the goal was legitimate and that VAR is not supposed to re-referee the game. He also criticised the timing of Chelsea's opening goal, which came in the ninth minute of added time, despite only eight minutes being signalled. The Fulham boss claimed the half should have ended before Enzo Fernández's corner led to João Pedro's header.

The Portuguese manager was equally unhappy with the penalty awarded to Chelsea for handball by Ryan Sessegnon, arguing that several fouls on Fulham players in the buildup were ignored. He pointed to a stamp on Alex Iwobi and a handball by João Pedro that went unpunished before the spot-kick was given.

Silva hinted at a pattern of decisions going against his team this season, referencing a controversial goal conceded against Manchester United. He stopped short of further comment to avoid punishment, but made clear his displeasure with the standard of officiating.
