The Met Office has identified 10 UK regions that will experience rain on Monday, following a scorching Sunday with temperatures expected to reach around 33C. The wet weather will affect parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and northern England, but is expected to be brief as heatwave conditions return later in the week.
Rain on Monday: which areas are affected?
According to Met Office forecast maps, rainfall will first emerge across Northern Ireland in the early hours, with Belfast and Londonderry among the locations seeing showers. The rain then moves eastwards towards Dumfries and parts of southern Scotland.
By morning, showers are indicated around Kendal, while parts of northern England, including Newcastle, York, and Manchester, may also see rainfall. Later in the day, showers develop around Caernarfon in north Wales, progressing towards Newtown in mid Wales, with a modest patch of rain near Cardiff.

Heatwave to return later in the week
The Met Office has warned that heatwave conditions are set to return next week, with temperatures up to 36C predicted across parts of East Anglia and south-east England by Thursday. Mercury levels are expected to climb towards 36C, particularly in southern and eastern regions of England.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow heat health alerts for the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London. These alerts remain in force until 9pm on Tuesday.
