Irvine Mayor Larry Argan made the significant announcement during his state of the city address on Tuesday evening, confirming that the team will utilise the Great Park Championship Soccer Stadium for its preparations.

US Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker expressed enthusiasm about the choice, stating in an official release: "We are delighted to have Great Park as our training site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The facilities are simply outstanding and will provide the perfect training environment for our team to prepare to be successful at the World Cup."
The Championship Soccer Stadium, constructed in 2017, serves as the regular home venue for Orange County SC of the USL Championship. This modern facility will now become the central hub for the USMNT's World Cup campaign.
Strategic Geographic Advantages
The selection of Irvine offers considerable logistical benefits for the American squad. The United States is scheduled to play two of its three group stage matches at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, located just under 50 miles by road from Great Park. This proximity will minimise travel disruptions and allow for optimal preparation between matches.
The team will commence its training tenure at Great Park immediately following its final pre-World Cup friendly against Germany in Chicago on June 6th. Their World Cup journey begins with an opening match against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium on June 14th, followed by a trip to Seattle to face Australia, before returning to the Los Angeles area for their final group stage encounter.
