Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has committed a major faux pas likely to infuriate the club's supporters, after being photographed drinking from an Arsenal-branded coffee cup just before his side's latest Premier League defeat.
Gunners Gaffe at the Vitality
The incident occurred at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening, prior to Spurs' clash with Bournemouth. In a photo that has since circulated online, the under-pressure 52-year-old boss was clearly seen sipping from a cup bearing the crest of Tottenham's arch-rivals, Arsenal.
This blunder comes during a challenging first six months in charge for Frank, who took over as head coach in the summer of 2025. Fan dissatisfaction has been growing due to his tactical decisions, unusual team selections, and odd remarks in press conferences.
Late Heartbreak on the South Coast
The match itself ended in familiar disappointment for Spurs. After taking an early lead through Mathys Tel, Tottenham conceded twice before half-time to goals from Evanilson and Eli Junior Kroupi. A spectacular overhead kick equaliser from Joao Palhinha seemed to have salvaged a point.
However, Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo scored a dramatic injury-time winner, which reports suggest could be his final act for the Cherries ahead of a proposed move to Manchester City. Spurs' misery was compounded by a first-half injury to Mohamed Kudus in their previous game and the continued long-term absence of James Maddison.
A History of Unforced Errors
Frank's relationship with the Tottenham faithful has been strained from the outset. Shortly after his appointment, he described Arsenal as "one of the best teams in the world" ahead of a pre-season friendly, drawing boos from Spurs fans.
While Tottenham won that match, results have sharply declined since. The team has managed just two Premier League victories since early November, suffering heavy losses to Chelsea and Newcastle before the recent setbacks.
This latest incident, combining a symbolic blunder with another poor result, is unlikely to improve Frank's standing. With key players like Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie still working their way back from injury, the pressure on the Danish manager is mounting rapidly as he seeks to turn Tottenham's fortunes around.
