Titans Star Charged Over Alleged Shooting Cover-Up
Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed has been formally indicted in Dallas County, Texas, on a misdemeanour charge for failing to report an aggravated assault to law enforcement. The indictment relates to an alleged shooting incident that occurred last year in the suburban Dallas area.
Details of the December Incident
According to court records, the alleged incident took place on December 6, 2024. On the same day, two men—Christian Nshimiyimana and Avi Ahmed—filed a civil lawsuit claiming they were shot at while sitting in a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon on a vehicle dealer lot in Carrollton.
The lawsuit alleges the shots were fired from a Lamborghini Urus that contained both Sneed and another man, Tekonzae Williams. Fortunately, no people were hit by the bullets, though the Mercedes-Benz and a nearby building were struck.
Williams faces more serious charges, having been indicted on Tuesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records did not list an attorney representing Williams.
Team Response and Career Implications
The Tennessee Titans acknowledged they are aware of the legal matter involving Sneed and confirmed they are following NFL protocol by maintaining contact with league security. The organisation stated it had no further comment at this time.
Sneed's agent, Jason Katz, similarly declined to comment on the indictment. The civil lawsuit against both Sneed and Williams seeks at least $1 million in damages.
This legal development comes during a challenging period for the 28-year-old player's career. Sneed was placed on injured reserve last month with a quadricep injury, marking the second consecutive season the Titans have taken this action. After being traded from Kansas City, he played only five games in 2024 despite signing a contract that made him the NFL's fifth-highest-paid cornerback at the time.
Sneed was originally drafted from Louisiana Tech University in the fourth round of the 2020 draft by Kansas City, where he won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs in 2022 and 2023.
