Ex-Premier League Star Sandro's Wrexham Transfer Tip: Sign Brazilian 'Baller'
Sandro: Wrexham should sign Brazilian star Matheus Pereira

A former Premier League midfielder has publicly declared his support for Wrexham and pinpointed the exact player he believes could propel the club towards the Premier League.

From Spurs to the Racecourse

Ex-Tottenham and Brazil international Sandro has confessed to becoming an unlikely admirer of the Welsh club, captivated by their Hollywood-fueled story under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac. The 36-year-old, speaking to BOYLE Sports, praised the owners' dream and the club's meticulous, step-by-step rise through the leagues.

Wrexham currently sit ninth in the Championship table, just one point outside the play-off places, following a summer spending spree of around £33 million on 13 new players after promotion from League One.

The January Transfer Target

With the January window open, Sandro believes the key to unlocking further success lies in adding creativity to Phil Parkinson's attack. He has specifically recommended a move for 29-year-old Brazilian playmaker Matheus Pereira.

Pereira, a product of Sporting CP's academy, has previous experience in English football with West Bromwich Albion in both the Championship and Premier League. He currently plays for Cruzeiro in Brazil's top flight, having returned from a stint with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia in July 2023. His market value is estimated at approximately £12 million.

"Matheus [likes to play] like a number 10. He's a good footballer. He has played in Europe before," Sandro said. "He is a real baller."

A Calculated Window for Wrexham

This advice comes as Wrexham officials signal a shift in transfer strategy. After last summer's major overhaul, the club is expected to adopt a more measured and opportunistic approach this January. Despite their busy schedules, Reynolds and Mac remain deeply involved, having set a budget with chief executive Michael Williamson.

Sandro also highlighted the club's unique global appeal, amplified by the successful 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary series, now filming its fifth season. He suggested this could be a major draw for South American talent.

"When the Wrexham show started to run, I think it was a hit all over the world because it's a beautiful story," he stated. "Brazilian players already love to come over here anyway... if they make it to the Premier League? Not just in Brazil, but around the world everyone loves the Premier League."

While acknowledging the difficulty of the Championship promotion race, Sandro's endorsement underscores the remarkable position Wrexham now holds in the football world, attracting attention from former stars who believe in their project.
