Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has launched a stunning public attack on the club's hierarchy, sensationally claiming he has been "thrown under the bus" and hinting his legendary Anfield career could be over.
Explosive Interview After Leeds Draw
The 33-year-old Egyptian superstar made the incendiary comments in a remarkable seven-and-a-half minute interview with the Press Association following Liverpool's 3-3 draw away to Leeds United on Saturday 6th December 2025. For the third consecutive match, Salah was named among the substitutes by manager Arne Slot, a situation the player described as unprecedented in his career.
"I don't know what to say," Salah stated. "It's funny but I couldn't believe it... That I'm sitting on the bench for 90 minutes! The third time on the bench, I think for the first time in my career." He expressed profound disappointment, feeling his immense contributions to the club were being disregarded. "I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season," he added.
Broken Promises and a Fractured Relationship
Salah revealed that promises made to him during the summer have been broken and alleged a complete breakdown in his relationship with head coach Arne Slot. "I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don't have any relationship," he said. "Yeah, there's no relationship between us."
The forward, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and has since won two Premier League titles and the Champions League, suggested a deliberate campaign to blame him for the team's struggles. "It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame... It seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club."
An Emotional Anfield Farewell?
In a poignant revelation, Salah indicated that next week's home match against Brighton & Hove Albion could be his final appearance at Anfield. He advised his family to attend the game so he could "enjoy it" and potentially "say goodbye to the fans" before he departs to join the Egypt national team for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15.
"I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup of Nations," Salah confirmed. "I don't know what is going to happen when I am there." When questioned about persistent interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, he sidestepped a direct answer, stating, "I don't want to answer this question, because the club is going to take me to a different direction."
Salah, who was the club's standout performer last season, expressed frustration at having to defend his position. "The respect, I want to get. I don't have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it," he asserted. The situation leaves a major cloud over Liverpool's immediate future as one of their greatest ever players contemplates a bitterly acrimonious departure.
