Rangers manager Philippe Clement has moved swiftly to quash speculation surrounding the future of midfielder Nicolas Raskin, dismissing reports that the Belgian international had handed in a transfer request.
The Ibrox boss was unequivocal in his response when questioned about the 22-year-old's situation, telling reporters: "There is absolutely no truth to these rumours. Nicolas is an important player for us and remains fully committed to Rangers."
Key Player in Clement's Plans
Raskin, who joined Rangers from Standard Liège in January 2023, has become an integral part of Clement's midfield setup. The technically-gifted playmaker has made 35 appearances for the Light Blues, contributing 3 goals and 5 assists.
Clement emphasised: "When you have quality players, there will always be speculation. But Nicolas knows how highly we value him here at Rangers. He's developing well and has a big future with us."
January Window Speculation
With the January transfer window approaching, rumours had begun circulating that several European clubs were monitoring Raskin's situation. However, club sources have confirmed there have been no official approaches for the midfielder.
The Belgian's current contract runs until 2026, with Rangers holding an option to extend for a further year, putting the Glasgow giants in a strong negotiating position should any concrete offers materialise.
Focus on Domestic Campaign
Clement's side currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership, just two points behind leaders Celtic. The manager stressed that maintaining squad stability will be crucial as Rangers push for silverware on multiple fronts.
"Our focus is entirely on the matches ahead," Clement added. "We have a busy schedule coming up, and I need all my players fully concentrated on the job at hand."
Raskin is expected to feature prominently when Rangers return to action this weekend, with supporters relieved to hear their midfield maestro won't be heading for the exit door anytime soon.
