Lens Stand Firm Against PSG's Fixture Rescheduling Request
Paris Saint-Germain have faced sharp criticism over their plans to rearrange a domestic fixture ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool. Lens, their Ligue 1 opponents, have released a robust statement firmly opposing any postponement of the match currently scheduled for April 11.

The first leg between Liverpool and PSG is set for April 8 at the Parc des Princes, with the return leg at Anfield following on April 14. The club emphasised that changing the match date would force them into a punishing schedule of matches every three days, a rhythm not aligned with the resources of a club with the tenth-largest budget in the championship. "It would therefore be understood that the tenth budget in the championship should adapt to the demands of the most powerful," Lens argued, highlighting a perceived imbalance.
Beyond the immediate fixture, Lens raised fundamental questions about the respect due to domestic competitions. "For it is permissible to wonder when, on its own soil, the championship sometimes seems relegated behind other ambitions, however legitimate they may be," the statement continued, pointing to recent changes like the reduction of Ligue 1 to 18 clubs and the discontinuation of the Coupe de la Ligue.
PSG's Previous Requests and the Current Dispute
Recent reports indicate that PSG formally requested the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to postpone and reschedule the Lens match.
