Riz Ahmed's acclaimed film 'Sound of Metal' is set to air on BBC Two tonight at 11.05pm, with the movie becoming available on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast. The 2020 drama follows a heavy metal drummer who begins to lose his hearing while on tour.
The film earned widespread praise and won two Oscars for Best Sound and Best Film Editing. Ahmed received an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Ruben Stone, alongside co-stars Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, and Lauren Ridloff.
Directed and co-written by Darius Marder, 'Sound of Metal' explores themes of deafness and identity. Since the film's release, Ahmed won an Oscar in 2022 for Best Live Action Short Film for 'The Long Goodbye'.
