Racing expert Newsboy has pinpointed his standout selections for a busy Friday of action across four British racecourses on January 2, 2026. His headline pick, the Nap, is Kelijoe in the 2.20 at Fakenham, while Time Tested at Chelmsford City (3.42) is tipped to complete a lucrative Daily Double.
Kelijoe Poised for Fakenham Success
All eyes will be on the Gamble Plant Norfolk Ltd Handicap Hurdle at Fakenham, where Newsboy believes Kelijoe can go one better than two previous second-place finishes at the Norfolk track. The six-year-old, trained by Stuart Edmunds, was runner-up in a maiden hurdle there in April and again in a novice event in mid-October.
After finishing fifth in two handicap outings, the gelding returned to winning ways impressively at Doncaster just before Christmas. Ridden by Charlie Hammond and sent off as the 9-4 favourite, Kelijoe took command at the second-last flight and powered clear to win by nearly four lengths.
Although the handicapper has responded with a 7lb rise in the weights, Newsboy suggests the horse has more improvement to offer for his in-form trainer. His front-running style is also considered a perfect fit for the sharp Fakenham circuit.
Time Tested Targets Chelmsford Hat-Trick
The second leg of Newsboy's featured double rests with Time Tested in the CCR Handicap at Chelmsford City. The horse is aiming for a third victory over the ten-furlong trip at the Essex all-weather venue, which would mark his sixth career success overall.
Newsboy's analysis indicates the runner has plenty in his favour for this assignment, making him the Next Best (NB) bet of the day. A win for Time Tested would seal a potentially rewarding Daily Double for followers of the tipster's advice.
