Kylian Mbappé's Ankle Injury Sparks Real Madrid Concern
Mbappé leaves France squad with ankle injury worry

Real Madrid face an anxious wait over Kylian Mbappé's fitness after the French superstar prematurely left international duty with a recurring ankle problem.

Early Return to Madrid

The 26-year-old forward scored twice in France's 4-0 victory against Ukraine on Thursday night but reported fresh discomfort in his right ankle the following morning. This development prompted his immediate return to the Spanish capital for further medical assessment.

Mbappé had previously recovered from the same issue to feature in Thursday's World Cup qualifier, but persistent inflammation has now cut short his international commitments. He will definitely miss France's second fixture during this break against Azerbaijan.

Recurring Problem for Star Forward

This represents a familiar concern for the French captain, who previously missed October's draw against Iceland due to identical ankle troubles. The problem has become something of a recurring theme in recent months.

However, Spanish outlet El Desmarque reports there are no indications of a serious issue, with Real Madrid optimistic about his availability for their first match after the international break. Los Blancos travel to face Elche in La Liga on 23rd November.

Club's Demanding Schedule Looms

The French Football Federation confirmed in an official statement: 'Mbappé was not in condition to continue and required additional medical evaluation in Madrid to determine the extent of inflammation and avoid escalation ahead of a demanding club schedule.'

Mbappé wasn't alone in his early departure. Club and international teammate Eduardo Camavinga also returned to Madrid, managing hamstring discomfort, while Manu Kona left the squad through suspension.

European clubs face an intense period after the international break, with Champions League and domestic commitments accelerating. Real Madrid particularly face a gruelling five matches across two weeks, starting with Elche before hosting Manchester City in the Champions League on 10th December. Xabi Alonso's team then have two further fixtures before the winter break.

All eyes will now be on Mbappé's medical results, with Real Madrid hoping their star man can recover swiftly for the crucial weeks ahead.
