Manchester United are making concrete plans to elevate two of their most promising academy talents, Harry Amass and Radek Vitek, into manager Ruben Amorim's first-team squad for next season.
Loan Stars Impressing in the Championship
Both youngsters are currently gaining invaluable experience away from Old Trafford, performing consistently in the demanding environment of the Championship. Left-back Harry Amass has become a regular starter for Sheffield Wednesday, featuring in all 11 of their matches since his deadline-day move to the crisis-hit club.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Radek Vitek, 22, has been a revelation for Bristol City, starting all 15 of their games this season. His performances have placed him joint-third in the Championship's clean sheet table, marking him out as a player with significant potential.
Clear Pathway to the First Team
The decision to integrate the duo is a strategic one, with Amorim keen to build a squad that includes homegrown talent. The pathway appears particularly clear for Vitek. United's goalkeeping department is in a state of flux, with Andre Onana loaned to Trabzonspor and likely to be sold permanently. Altay Bayindir has failed to grasp his opportunities, and veteran Tom Heaton is 39.
This situation could see Vitek become the primary backup to summer signing Senne Lammens. Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber has been effusive in his praise, stating, "He is a Premier League goalkeeper in the future. For me, it's not a second opinion."
For Amass, the competition is steeper at left-back, where the squad includes Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and others. However, the club's faith in his development is evident, and they are content for him to remain with Sheffield Wednesday for the entirety of the 2025/26 campaign to continue his progress.
