It was a grim 45 minutes for Manchester United at Selhurst Park, with Erik ten Hag's side heading into the break two goals down against a dominant Crystal Palace. The performance was littered with errors, leaving the Red Devils with a mountain to climb in the second half.
Manchester United Half-Time Player Ratings
Andre Onana (5)
Could do little about either of Palace's well-taken goals. Was left badly exposed by his crumbling defence and distribution was occasionally shaky.
Diogo Dalot (4)
A torrid time up against the lively Michael Olise. Constantly caught out of position and offered little going forward to alleviate the pressure.
Casemiro (3)
A nightmare performance playing out of position at centre-back. Was repeatedly skinned for pace, caught on the ball, and at fault for the second goal. A half to forget.
Jonny Evans (5)
The slightly more composed of the two centre-halves, but that's not saying much. Struggled to organise a chaotic back line and was often pulled out of position.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (4)
Returning to his old club, he failed to make an impact. Beaten too easily by Tyrick Mitchell and his attacking contributions were minimal.
Kobbie Mainoo (4)
Uncharacteristically off the pace. Overrun in midfield, loose in possession, and unable to provide any defensive cover for his vulnerable back four.
Christian Eriksen (5)
Tried to create but was swamped by a physical Palace midfield. Lacked the mobility to track runners, leaving huge gaps in the centre of the park.
Alejandro Garnacho (6)
The lone bright spark. United's most threatening player, driving at the defence and trying to make things happen. Let down by his final ball on a few occasions.
Bruno Fernandes (5)
Frustrated and isolated. Dropped far too deep to get on the ball, nullifying his attacking threat. Uncharacteristically wasteful in possession.
Marcus Rashford (4)
Anonymous. Offered no protection to Wan-Bissaka behind him and provided no attacking impetus. A passenger for much of the half.
Rasmus Hojlund (5)
Starved of any meaningful service. Cut a lonely figure up front, forced to feed on scraps against a robust Palace defence.
Half-Time Verdict
An abysmal, error-strewn display from the Red Devils. The tactical setup was all wrong, the midfield was non-existent, and the defence was shambolic. Ten Hag has some serious work to do at half-time if they are to salvage anything from this London trip.
