Madelyn Burke Secures Dream ESPN SportsCenter Anchor Position After Decade with Giants
Renowned sports broadcaster Madelyn Burke, celebrated for her extensive coverage of the New York Giants, is poised to transition into what she describes as her ultimate career aspiration. Burke, who has dedicated the past ten years to reporting on the Giants for various media outlets including MSG Network and Giants.com, will relocate to Bristol, Connecticut to commence her new role as a SportsCenter anchor for ESPN starting in April. Her specific anchoring schedule is currently being finalized by the network.
A Full-Circle Moment for the Los Angeles Native
Expressing overwhelming excitement, Burke announced on social media, "I'm over the moon to begin this next chapter of my career in my dream job! SportsCenter is a show I grew up watching, a cornerstone of ESPN for decades, and I'm so honored to join such an iconic program." She extended gratitude to her family, friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support throughout her journey. This move represents a significant full-circle moment for Burke, who previously worked as a production assistant for ESPN on high-profile broadcasts like Monday Night Football and the NBA Finals nearly two decades ago.
Reflecting on this progression, Burke told the New York Post, "Nearly 20 years later, to be here now joining SportsCenter, I honestly feel a lot more gratitude than anything else to the people and the experiences and the opportunities that have helped me get here. It's also just the full-circle moment of remembering being a young PA just cutting her teeth and trying to do whatever it takes to be in and around the industry. And now, I'm about to start my dream job."
Farewell to a Decade with the New York Giants
Burke, an Arizona State University journalism graduate, recently concluded her ten-year tenure covering the Giants, announcing the departure on social media. She wrote, "After 10 seasons of covering the New York Football Giants, it's time for me to move on. I've loved being a part of Big Blue and watching this organization evolve over the last decade. I've built some incredible friendships, made lasting memories, and hope to have left a positive impact on the fan base with our content and coverage over the years." She affirmed her enduring connection to the team, stating, "once a Giant, always a Giant."
During her time with the Giants, Burke held multiple prominent roles, including serving as a sideline reporter for WFAN Giants broadcasts, hosting various shows across the team's digital platforms, and presenting Giants Postgame Live on MSG. Her versatile career also encompasses coverage of college football and the NBA for platforms such as Sports Illustrated, including assignments on the Clippers beat, hosting the nationally televised college football show Running with the PAC on FOX, and engagements with Bleacher Report and Amazon.
This strategic career shift underscores Burke's dedication and evolution in sports journalism, marking a pivotal advancement from her early production roles to a flagship anchoring position at one of sports media's most esteemed networks.
