World number one Luke Littler has secured his maiden Players Championship Finals title with a hard-fought 11-8 victory over Nathan Aspinall in Sunday's final.
Commanding Performance Seals Victory
The 18-year-old darts sensation stormed ahead to establish a 5-2 lead in the showpiece match at Minehead. Despite Aspinall mounting a brilliant fightback that saw him close the gap to 9-8 with an impressive 127 checkout, Littler remained composed under pressure.
The young champion sealed his victory with a clinical 88 checkout, demonstrating the finishing prowess that has defined his remarkable year. This triumph represents Littler's sixth televised ranking title of 2025 and comes just weeks before he defends his world champion status at Alexandra Palace.
Road to the Final
Littler's path to the championship saw him deliver dominant performances throughout the tournament. He reached the final with an 11-8 semi-final victory over Gerwyn Price, where he maintained control despite Price's efforts to close the gap.
Earlier on Sunday, Littler had secured his place in the semi-finals with a 10-5 quarter-final win against Chris Dobey, producing a spectacular match average of nearly 108 and hitting nine maximums.
Meanwhile, Aspinall earned his spot in the final with a commanding 11-2 victory over Jermaine Wattimena in their semi-final encounter, which included a spectacular 10-dart leg.
Looking Ahead to Alexandra Palace
Speaking to ITV after his victory, Littler expressed his pride in adding this title to his collection. "It wasn't easy. I didn't put myself high enough in the rankings, so it wasn't easy to get to this final," he admitted. "But I'm very proud to get this one ticked off the list. Now there's only two more to go."
The teenager acknowledged Aspinall's strong performance, saying "Nathan has been playing very well, been playing well for a good few weeks now, but I just had to dig in at the end there."
With this victory, Littler has now won almost every major honour in darts, with only the World Masters and European Championship missing from his impressive collection. The win comes at the perfect moment as attention turns to next month's World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, where Littler will aim to continue his dominant form.
