Snooker legend Jimmy White returns to the competitive scene on Boxing Day as he begins his British Seniors Open campaign in Derby, his first major tournament there since 1993. The event, broadcast on Channel 5 from December 26, features eight players including former World Seniors champion Alfie Burden and six-time major winner Ken Doherty.
Over his 46-year career, White has amassed a considerable fortune. Celebrity Net Worth estimates the 63-year-old is worth around £6.7 million, with prize money totalling £5.1 million according to CueTracker. However, White has admitted to squandering millions on gambling and drugs, pushing him to the brink of bankruptcy. Speaking on the Anything Goes podcast in 2021, he said: 'I gambled at least three million quid... I went bankrupt through gambling.'
White also discussed his cocaine addiction on Louis Theroux's documentary Gods of Snooker, describing crack as 'evil' and recalling draining a £35,000 account on the drug. Now sober, he credits his partner Jade Slusarczyk, a former Miss Blackpool winner 23 years his junior, for helping him stay grounded. The pair met in 2018 at a snooker tournament in her hometown.
In an interview with The Sun, White said: 'Jade's helped me because she doesn't drink. I've never been so happy... She doesn't care about the age difference, so why should I?' Earlier this year, White revealed on Stephen Hendry's Cue Tips podcast that he was diagnosed with ADHD two years ago, which 'completely changed' his life. He explained that medication helped him focus better under pressure, something he believes would have improved his career had he known earlier.
