Simone Inzaghi Rejects Manchester United Managerial Approach
Inzaghi says no to Man Utd, remains at Al-Hilal

Manchester United's search for a new permanent manager has hit a significant setback, with top candidate Simone Inzaghi delivering a firm rejection. The Al-Hilal boss was approached by the Old Trafford hierarchy but has made it clear his immediate future lies in Saudi Arabia.

United's Approach Meets a Swift Rejection

Following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim on Monday, United identified former Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi as a potential successor. The club reportedly reached out to the Italian to gauge his interest in taking the helm at the end of the current season.

However, according to reports from TuttoSport, Inzaghi's response was an unequivocal 'no thanks'. The 49-year-old emphasised that his full focus is on his current role with Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal, where he is under contract until June 2027.

Contract and Form Key to Inzaghi's Decision

Several factors are believed to have influenced Inzaghi's decision to snub the Premier League giants. His lucrative contract with Al-Hilal, worth a reported £43.3 million over two years, is seen as a major consideration.

Furthermore, his project in Saudi Arabia is flourishing. Al-Hilal sit top of the league, just one point ahead of rivals Al-Nassr, having won 10 and drawn two of their 12 matches this campaign. The team is also on a remarkable 17-game winning streak across all competitions, a run stretching back to mid-September.

A crucial top-of-the-table clash against Al-Nassr is scheduled for next Monday, a match that could prove decisive in the title race. Inzaghi, who guided Inter Milan to the Champions League final last season, appears fully committed to seeing the job through.

What's Next for Manchester United?

With Inzaghi out of the running, United's managerial shortlist is understood to include names like Oliver Glasner, Roberto De Zerbi, and Enzo Maresca. For now, the club is preparing for an interim period.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is anticipated to take temporary charge from the summer, but until then, former midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to lead the team as caretaker manager, assisted by Jonny Evans. Fletcher will take the reins for Wednesday's Premier League fixture against Burnley and Sunday's FA Cup tie with Brighton.

Speaking about the unexpected role, Fletcher said: "It is an amazing honour to lead a Manchester United team... but not in the circumstances I expected it to happen." The club will continue its search for a permanent appointment to succeed Amorim in the coming months.
