Erling Haaland has revealed the inspirational message that drove Manchester City to their historic fourth consecutive Premier League title. In a video posted to the club's Instagram account, the Norwegian striker is seen in the City boot room, pointing to a bold message on the wall that reads: 'No team has ever won four consecutive titles in a row... yet'.
The 61-word message served as a constant reminder of the unprecedented challenge facing Pep Guardiola's side. The video shows players, including Haaland and Kyle Walker, urging each other on throughout the season and warning against complacency. In one clip, Haaland tells teammates not to celebrate after a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the penultimate fixture, a result that effectively ended Arsenal's title hopes.
City secured the title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, finishing two points clear of Arsenal. The win marked their sixth league title in seven seasons under Guardiola, a feat never before achieved in English football. City went 23 games unbeaten in the league following a defeat to Aston Villa in December, winning 28 matches overall.
The video also features Guardiola asking his players at the start of the season: 'Give me one reason why we should not do it again?' The boot room message appears to have worked, with City overcoming three league defeats and seven draws to finish nine points ahead of third-placed Liverpool.
