Ex-Arsenal striker Biereth worth £66m after £4m sale

Former Arsenal striker Mika Biereth has seen his transfer value skyrocket to an impressive £66 million, despite experiencing a challenging beginning to the current season with Monaco.

From North London to European Success

The 22-year-old Danish striker spent three years with Arsenal after joining from Fulham in 2021, but never made a single first-team appearance for the Gunners. Biereth was named in the senior matchday squad four times during January 2022, but remained an unused substitute on each occasion.

His departure from the Emirates Stadium came in the summer of 2024 when Sturm Graz secured his services for £4 million. The move proved transformative for Biereth's career, as he exploded into form during the 2024/25 season.

Metoric Rise Through European Football

Biereth's exceptional performances in Austria, where he scored 14 goals in 25 appearances during the first half of the season, caught the attention of Monaco. The French club acted decisively, signing the striker for £13 million in January 2025.

He continued his remarkable scoring form after moving to Ligue 1, adding 13 goals in 19 matches for Monaco. This brought his combined tally for the 2024/25 season to an impressive 27 goals in 44 appearances across both clubs.

Current Season Challenges and Value Surge

The current campaign has presented difficulties for Biereth, with the striker managing just one goal in 15 appearances for Monaco across all competitions. His last goal came in September during a 5-2 victory over Metz.

Despite this dip in form, the CIES Football Observatory reports that Biereth's transfer value has increased from £64 million in August to £66 million. This valuation now exceeds that of Arsenal's current striker Viktor Gyokeres, whom the club signed from Sporting CP for £55 million as an initial fee last July.

Biereth recently started in Monaco's 4-1 home defeat to Lens and made two appearances for Denmark during the international break. Monaco face Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening as they look to regain momentum.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres has experienced an inconsistent start to his Arsenal career, scoring six goals in 14 appearances this campaign. The Sweden international last scored against Burnley earlier this month but was substituted at half-time with a muscle injury.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed concern about the injury, telling reporters: "I am concerned because he hasn't had many muscular issues and he had to leave the pitch. He was feeling something and that's obviously never a good sign, especially for a player that is very, very explosive."

The timeline for Gyokeres's return remains uncertain as Arsenal prepare for a congested fixture schedule following the international break.
