In a stunning announcement that has sent shockwaves through English football, Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner has revealed ambitious plans for a new £1.2 billion stadium and floated the sensational possibility of a future return for global superstar Jude Bellingham.
The Powerhouse Stadium Vision
The new ground, set to be known as the Powerhouse Stadium, is a central pillar of a grand vision to propel the Championship club to the summit of the global game. With a capacity of 62,000, the arena is slated to open its doors in 2030 and is expected to be funded in part by a significant naming-rights deal.
Chairman Tom Wagner did not hold back in his ambitions, stating the development would "change this city forever" and be usable 365 days a year. He confirmed the club is actively seeking a naming-rights partner, ideally "before we even put a shovel in the ground."
The stadium itself is designed to be the most environmentally sound ever built and will form the heart of a wider £2.5-3billion Sports Quarter, featuring houses, shops, offices, and hotels.
