The 28-year-old is enduring a frustrating season, and he doubled down on his astonishing criticism of the offence during a tense media session.
A Season of Struggle and Cryptic Messages
The star player's discontent has been simmering for weeks. Brown's role in the Eagles' offence has become increasingly limited this season, a point starkly illustrated during Monday's drab 10-7 victory over the Green Bay Packers. In that game, he was largely anonymous, catching just two of three targets for a mere 13 yards. This marked the fourth game this year in which he has recorded under 30 receiving yards.
His frustration first surfaced publicly back in September when he posted a cryptic Bible verse about not feeling 'welcomed'. The situation escalated earlier this week when, during a live Twitch stream with content creator JankyRondo, Brown let his feelings be known in no uncertain terms.
'Family's good. Everything else? No. It's a s***show,' Brown confessed to his friend. He added, 'You on some "How you been?" I've been struggling brother,' before offering blunt advice to fantasy football managers: 'If you got me on fantasy [football], get rid of me.'
No Apologies and a Call for Offensive Improvement
When his stunning comments spread across social media, Brown was confronted by reporters on Wednesday. He stood his ground, offering no retraction. 'I’m not apologizing for that,' Brown stated firmly. He explained that while he gave 'all the right answers' after the game, his private conversation was a moment to 'laugh through this s***.'
Brown defended his outburst as a reflection of a wider problem, not merely personal stat-padding. 'It's not just solely about my situation. I want to win, too,' he asserted. He directly challenged the Eagles' offensive unit, questioning their reliance on the defence to bail them out. 'At what point are we going to pick up our slack as an offense?' he demanded.
He elaborated on the unsustainable nature of their current form, warning, 'It's been week after week sometimes we're not doing our job on offense. You can't keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and expect to win late in the year... It's not going to f***ing happen.'
Team Leadership Responds to the Controversy
The fallout from Brown's comments has put Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts in the spotlight. When quizzed about his receiver's latest complaints, Sirianni expressed his weariness with the topic. 'I'm close to being done answering these questions with this,' Sirianni told the media. However, he did confirm that Brown remains a key part of their plans, stating, 'He's working hard and he is a big part of this game plan [for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions].'
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, meanwhile, swiftly shut down any further discussion. Focusing on the upcoming challenge, Hurts said, 'We've got the Detroit Lions, so I'm definitely going to put a halt to that.' He emphasised the importance of unity, adding, 'The more we drive that, the more of a distraction it becomes. And I think ultimately, it's about the group.'
Statistically, Brown's season is on a worrying trajectory. Through eight games, he has 31 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns. He is currently on pace to finish with just 867 receiving yards, which would be the lowest total of his career to date, underscoring the root of his very public frustration.
