President Donald Trump brought rapper Nicki Minaj and entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary on stage during a White House event on Wednesday to promote children's investment accounts established under his administration's spending package. The event, held at the Mellon Auditorium, took an unexpected turn when Trump invited the two celebrities to join him.
Trump, who was about 25 minutes into his speech, spotted O'Leary in the audience and praised him as a businessman and entertainer. He then turned to Minaj, calling her the most successful female rapper in history and noting her reported investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars into the accounts. The accounts provide $1,000 to children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, to be held until they turn 18.
Minaj, wearing a white fur-trimmed coat, declared herself Trump's “No. 1 fan” and said the criticism she faces motivates her to support him more. O'Leary thanked Trump on behalf of American entrepreneurs, praising the accounts as pro-business policy. Trump called the moment a “little interlude” and joked it was better than having Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on stage.
