Despite his impressive performances, Barcelona are dragging their heels in negotiations. They are unwilling to pay the £26 million fee required to make his loan permanent and are keen to agree a fresh loan deal for the 2026/27 season due to their well-documented financial problems.
Manchester United want a permanent transfer for their academy graduate, who still has two years left on a contract worth £325,000 a week. They are standing firm, and the stalemate could open the door for other interested parties.

Catalan outlet Sport reports that Tottenham have shown 'genuine interest' in signing Rashford and could complicate matters if they avoid relegation from the Premier League. Spurs currently sit 18th, two points from safety, with four matches left to play.

Barcelona are prioritising a move for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez this summer and are wary of overspending on Rashford, who is not seen as a replacement for veteran centre-forward Robert Lewandowski. Atletico manager Diego Simeone confirmed on Tuesday that Barcelona are among the clubs chasing Alvarez.
"It's normal that an extraordinary player like Julian Alvarez is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona," Simeone said. "It's normal because he's very good."
Rashford's Calm Approach
Rashford is understood to be staying calm as he tries to secure a dream move to Barcelona, where he has settled well and is enjoying life. He has a good relationship with Flick and hopes the German manager's influence will be a significant factor.
Manchester United's Summer Plans
United are set for a hugely significant summer transfer window, with the club hiring a new long-term manager to succeed Ruben Amorim while overhauling their squad.
