Prince William Settles Scone Debate With Late Queen's Method

Prince William has settled the long-running scone debate by revealing how the late Queen Elizabeth II ate hers. During an appearance on Heart Breakfast from the Isles of Scilly, the Prince of Wales was presented with a plate of scones, clotted cream and jam. Host Amanda Holden asked him to choose between the Devon way (cream first, then jam) and the Cornish way (jam first, then cream).

William replied: 'I love that I'm the authority on scones. I can only tell you what I learned from my grandmother. And she would definitely, she had the cream on first. Cream on first, jam on top.' The Prince, who is Duke of Cornwall, settled the matter by endorsing the Devon method.

In the wide-ranging interview, William also spoke about his wife Kate's recent solo trip to Italy, her first official overseas visit since her cancer diagnosis. He said she 'came back buzzing' and described her as 'a proper pro on early years'. He added that the family must balance such trips to ensure she is 'OK and rested'.

The Prince also shared details of the school run, revealing that Prince Louis likes to take jam sandwiches in the car, leaving 'jam fingerprints throughout the car'. He confessed he is not a morning person and that Prince George is now boarding at Lambrook School.

William helped choose the show's playlist, including Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' and Raye's 'Where Is My Husband'. He also joked about receiving an invitation to Taylor Swift's wedding, initially replying 'no comment' before laughing.
