US Attorney General Pam Bondi broke her silence hours after President Donald Trump announced her dismissal via Truth Social. Trump confirmed on Thursday that Bondi would move into the private sector, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stepping in as Acting Attorney General.
Bondi took to X on Thursday afternoon, writing: 'Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration.'
Trump described Bondi as a 'Great American Patriot and a loyal friend' who 'did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.' Reports suggest Trump is considering Lee Zeldin, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, as Bondi's permanent replacement.
An unnamed senior administration official told The Daily Mail that Bondi was allegedly dismissed the evening before the announcement, moments before Trump addressed the nation on the Iran conflict. She pleaded with him to reconsider, but he stood firm. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump and Bondi appeared together at the US Supreme Court.
Bondi's dismissal comes roughly a month after Trump removed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Reports also emerged that the president plans to sack National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard over a social media blunder. Following the announcement, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) made it clear that Bondi's removal will not excuse her from testifying before the House Oversight Committee regarding the Epstein files.
