Josh Windass is 'potentially considering' a return to Rangers this summer, according to Simon Jordan after talks with the midfielder.
Windass Open to Ibrox Return
In January, then Rangers gaffer Danny Rohl was keen to be reunited with the former Ibrox star, whom he managed at Sheffield Wednesday, but a loan bid was booted out by the Welsh outfit. Windass signed a deal until 2028 in the summer, but Rangers appear to have revived their interest.
The Englishman impressed for the Championship outfit last term in their failed playoff push, chipping in with 11 goals and seven assists. Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan claimed on talkSPORT that he bumped into Windass while jetting off to cover the World Cup.
Jordan said: 'I was talking to Josh Windass on the plane [over to America]. There was a perception that he might have been potentially considering an opportunity to go to Rangers.' Host Jim White pressed: 'What Josh? To go back to Rangers?' Jordan continued: 'Yeah, but I am not going to talk on behalf of Josh, because Josh has a contract at Wrexham.'
Rangers Transfer Priorities
It remains to be seen if incoming gaffer Derek McInnes will be keen on signing Windass. Right-back is a priority position for the club after captain James Tavernier departed at the end of the season, while Max Aarons returned to his parent club Bournemouth. Rangers are interested in Westerlo defender Bryan Reynolds but have not tabled a bid. If the Light Blues are to firm up a move, they may have to move quickly, with Voetbal International claiming a number of clubs in Belgium are ready to splash the cash on a player who has a year left on his deal.
Vaclav Cerny Future in Doubt
Reports in Turkey have also touted Vaclav Cerny with a surprise return to the club. Cerny's club Besiktas have to fall in line with the new Super Lig rule that caps the number of overseas players in squads. Fourteen foreign players are green lit in the squad for the 2026-27 season, but at least four of them should be born in or after 2004. That has ramped up speculation over the Czech star's future, but Besiktas boss Vincenzo Italiano wants to stay 'at all costs', according to Milliyet.
