During the footage, Kid Rock notably flips his middle finger toward the camera, while the seventy-two-year-old Health Secretary completes his workout routine while wearing a pair of blue jeans, which he later plunges into a tub of water.
For Governor Newsom, this display crossed significant boundaries of propriety. Through his official press office account on social media platform X, Newsom declared: "I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH. AS GOVERNOR OF THE FREE WORLD, I, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, AM OFFICIALLY BANNING 'KID ROCK' FROM CALIFORNIA. HIS SHIRTLESS VIDEO WITH 'SECRETARY BRAINWORM' WAS INAPPROPRIATE, CREEPY, AND VERY LOW ENERGY. NOT WHAT YOU WANT AROUND OUR CHILDREN!"
Additional Criticisms and Social Media Mockery
The governor's communications team expanded their critique, adding: "ALSO, SOME OF THE WEAKEST PUSHUPS EVER WITNESSED. CALIFORNIA ONLY ALLOWS WINNERS! I AM ALSO BANNING WORKING OUT IN JEANS, VERY STRANGE!" This statement notably imitated the distinctive rhetorical style frequently employed by former President Donald Trump in his Truth Social posts.
The workout video has generated widespread mockery across social media platforms, with even panelists on Fox News' program The Five expressing bewilderment at the bizarre episode. Fox News military analyst Johnny Jones specifically questioned Kennedy's choice of workout attire, stating: "Listen, somebody needs to tell RFK Jr. it's OK to wear shorts. I mean, bro, don't be upset about your legs. I don't care what they look like. Take it from me, nobody needs impressive legs. You look great with your shirt off. Throw the shorts on so we don't all go, 'Wow, that's weird.'"

Health Secretary Kennedy has previously explained his unconventional gym wardrobe, stating that he began wearing jeans for "convenience" and has since become "used to it." The multi-city festival, originally planned for the weekend of July 25th, announced the cancellation after several performers, including prominent rock band Shinedown, withdrew from the event. This represents another significant setback for the musician following the controversy generated by the workout video with the Health Secretary.
