MAGA Base Strongly Backs Trump's Iran Military Action

MAGA Base Overwhelmingly Supports Trump's Iran Military Campaign

Supporters of Donald Trump's Make America Great Again movement are showing strong approval for the president's military actions in Iran, with polling data indicating nearly 90 percent backing. This substantial support comes despite notable criticism from some prominent conservative media personalities who have voiced opposition to the ongoing conflict.

Polling Data Reveals Strong Base Approval

According to recent analysis shared by CNN's Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten, an average of 89 percent of MAGA supporters approve of the war in Iran, with only 9 percent expressing disapproval. Enten described this level of support as "tremendously popular among the Republican base" regarding the U.S.-Israeli strikes that commenced over two weeks ago.

The data originates from Gabe Fleisher's Wake Up To Politics Substack publication, which referenced an NBC News poll finding 90 percent of MAGA supporters backing the military strikes. Additional polling from CNN mentioned by Fleisher shows that 77 percent of Republicans overall approve of the actions, with MAGA Republicans being 30 points more likely than non-MAGA Republicans to strongly endorse Trump's decision to attack Iran.

Conservative Media Figures Express Opposition

While the polling indicates strong base support, several prominent pro-Trump media figures have publicly criticized the military campaign. Tucker Carlson described the action as "absolutely disgusting and evil" in a statement to ABC News' Jonathan Karl on February 28. Trump responded by stating Carlson had "lost his way" and was not representative of the MAGA movement.

Talk radio host Megyn Kelly expressed "serious doubts" about the war on her SiriusXM show, emphasizing that supporting the president doesn't require accepting another Middle East conflict without questions. This criticism sparked a social media dispute with conservative commentator Mark Levin, who attacked Kelly's position, leading to a heated exchange between the two media personalities.

Political Fallout and Broader Public Opinion

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene entered the fray by supporting Kelly's criticism of Levin, while Trump defended Levin on Truth Social as a "truly Great American Patriot" under siege by those with less intellect and capability. Despite the internal conservative media disagreements, the polling data suggests Trump maintains strong support from his base regarding the Iran conflict.

However, broader public opinion shows a different picture. A recent The Economist/YouGov poll indicates 56 percent of U.S. adults disapprove of Trump's handling of the Iran situation, with only 36 percent approving. This contrast highlights the significant divide between the president's core supporters and the general American public regarding military action in the Middle East.
